About the LRS Center Aachen
The LRS Center Aachen is a non-profit organization that offers assistance with reading and spelling difficulties for children, adolescents, adults, as well as parents and educators. Since its founding in 1994, the center has relied on software for the detection and diagnosis of reading and spelling weaknesses.

Challenge
Since 1998, a complex desktop software based on Visual Basic has been used to diagnose reading and spelling weaknesses. This needed to be migrated to a .NET platform to meet cloud operation standards. Additionally, a transformation was necessary to make the test portal browser-based and to eliminate the need for manual intervention by internal staff.
Solution
Through the migration to .NET, the existing application was containerized and made cloud-ready. The implementation of a user-friendly test portal enabled browser-based use without the need for internal intervention. The integration of modern web technologies allowed users to generate reports independently, optimizing the diagnostic process.
With the energetic and expert support of bitside, we were able to optimize our digital processes. As a result, we can now quickly and easily offer our customers (parents, learning therapists, and teachers) diagnostics of children’s and adolescents’ spelling competence and provide automatically generated, meaningful reports. The bitside employees involved in the development processes always shone with their expertise and were able to identify and fix existing errors. We have always felt well taken care of by bitside in terms of consulting, development, and operations!
Impact
The extensive automation of the manual process and the user-friendly design of the test portal now allow customers to conduct diagnostics independently. This significantly reduces email contact for report generation and allows for flexible budget adjustments for the contingent. Customers benefit from an efficient and hassle-free user experience.
