About Zurich Group Germany

Zurich Group Germany, as a subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group, is one of the largest insurance companies in Germany, serving not only private individuals but also the majority of German DAX companies.

Das Projekt

Challenge

The application landscape in the area of printing consists of many legacy applications. Modernization is necessary to enable modern Customer Communication Management (CCM). A key issue is the transition from IBM's no longer supported ASF to Quadient Inspire. The migration of all associated processes is highly complex.

Solution

Within a short time, the first version of a middleware was implemented, which clearly demonstrated the added value of a central component for output management. In a trusted collaboration that has now lasted for years, this middleware has been continuously expanded and now forms the established core of CCM. We continue to support the modernization of CCM.

The experts at bitside, with their high technical knowledge, immense work effort, and passion, completely refactored and put an important struggling project on a stable path to completion in a short time. This prevented a critical go-live blocker for the large program. The stability of the solution has now been proven in production for over 2 years. Respect, a thousand thanks, and highly recommended!

Impact

Through the rapid agile development of the middleware and the integration of ASF and Inspire, Zurich Group was quickly able to establish this as the central component of their CCM and gradually advance the migration process from legacy systems to a modern architecture. The support of the old printing system allows for a risk-free transition to modern CCM.

Transition from Legacy to Modern
The client can gradually transition document creation from the legacy system (ASF) to the newly developed modern interface (Inspire).
Migration of Associated Processes (Archiving, Customer Portal)
Downstream processes previously handled by the legacy system have been implemented and modernized within the middleware.
Transparent Order Processing
Both the business departments and developers have insight into the individual processing steps of each order sent to the middleware through an intuitive frontend.

New paths are meant to be explored.
